Individual Psychosocial Support

If you are 14 years of age or older, reside in Québec, and are experiencing difficulties that feel heavy or challenging to manage on your own, individual psychosocial support may offer you a supportive space for listening, reflection, and guidance tailored to your situation.

The purpose of psychosocial follow-up is to better understand what you are experiencing, clarify your needs, and mobilize your strengths and personal resources in order to explore concrete, creative, and individualized solutions.

Support may be appropriate if you recognize yourself in one or more of the following situations:

  • You are experiencing difficulty managing daily responsibilities at home or at work

  • Your personal, professional, and/or social life is being affected

  • You feel overwhelmed by the challenges you are facing

  • You have the sense that your mental health is fragile

  • Your distress persists and feels too heavy to carry alone

  • You do not feel sufficiently supported by those around you

  • You wish to be supported by a neutral professional external to your situation

  • You want to make changes in your life and would like guidance through this process

How Does the Follow-Up Work?

Following your request for support, a brief telephone intake will take place to discuss your needs and expectations. This initial contact is intended to determine whether I am the appropriate professional to support you, while also confirming, on both sides, our willingness to begin a therapeutic process together.

The initial sessions—generally around four—are focused on getting to know you better and exploring your life circumstances, the challenges you are currently facing, as well as your needs and expectations regarding the support process. During this time, we will also jointly determine the terms of the follow-up, including the frequency of sessions, their format (in-person or virtual), and the expected duration of the support (short-, medium-, or long-term), based on what best suits you.

Subsequently, we will collaboratively develop an intervention plan. This plan will clearly define your objectives, the means to achieve them, indicators of progress, and a realistic timeline that respects your pace. Throughout the support process, the relevance of the follow-up and its impact on your well-being will be continuously assessed. If necessary, a referral to a more appropriate resource may be suggested to ensure adequate support for your ongoing needs.

When the support process comes to an end, a closing session will allow for a comprehensive review of the work accomplished, acknowledgment of the progress made, and identification of next steps. If needed, additional resources may be recommended to support more in-depth work, including psychotherapy.
